4-Frame Nucs for the Ottawa Valley
The perfect head start for your apiary.
Queen-right nucs for Ottawa Valley and Eastern Ontario beekeepers. Our 4-frame nucleus colonies (nucs) are designed to give your beekeeping season maximum momentum. Unlike a package of bees, our nucs are established, functioning mini-colonies with a proven laying queen and a balanced ecosystem already in place.
What's Included in Our Standard Nuc
- —Locally bred queen: bred for local hardiness and temperament, well-adapted to our climate and forage.
- —2 frames of brood: carefully selected frames with brood at various stages—eggs, larvae, capped pupae—ensuring continuous production of new workers shortly after installation.
- —1 frame of food: a rich resource frame packed with nectar, honey, and pollen to sustain the colony during the transition.
- —1 drawn frame: an empty, ready-to-use frame of drawn comb so the queen has immediate space to expand her laying pattern.
Customize Your Nuc
We understand that many beekeepers—especially those recovering from winter deadouts—already have resources on hand. If you have your own high-quality drawn comb or heavy food frames, we are happy to work with you. We offer customization options to swap frames or adjust the nuc configuration. Customization may involve adjusted labor or resource costs; please contact us to discuss and receive a quote.
Why Choose Our Nucs?
Buying from us means you aren't just getting bees; you're getting a proven, local nuc that is ready to grow into a full production colony. Our focus on local, gentle genetics and balanced frame selection significantly reduces the lag time often seen with packages, putting you on the fast track to a successful honey harvest.
